Digital Analytics and Optimization Course Review Blog post:

Knowing digital analytics is key to the success of current and future endeavors within a business. Understanding how to measure your business goals through analytics will help shape your marketing efforts. This course has taught me how to do that successfully for my case study brand, Fouronetwo. From this month’s coursework, some of the key takeaways in which I feel confident in my ability to formulate a digital marketing plan will be discussed.

Setting a foundation for your business goals is crucial for understanding where you would like to take the business. The use of SMART goals sets this foundation. In our Week 2 assignment, which demonstrates the use of SMART goals, I built upon my knowledge of SMART goals from previous classes. From this particular class, we not only set our goals but also measured them. This occurred in our Week 3 assignment, where we used real-life data to evaluate how it could help us formulate an actionable plan for the business. That knowledge is absolutely crucial in understanding business directions.

Another key takeaway from this month was the extremely valuable Google Analytics Certification. In the world of digital marketing, the Google Analytics certification is highly reputable. As a marketer, this certification has enabled me to expand my knowledge in data collection and data review, which will be another valuable tool in my marketing career—for example, tracking customer behavior, purchase history, or simply the amount of time they spend on a particular page. What an incredible tool to use for understanding your customers, perhaps more than they understand themselves.

The knowledge I learned this month will be beneficial for the final project in month 12. I will definitely be able to incorporate my expanded knowledge of SMART goals and break down the digital marketing plan into sections, including the marketing objectives and business goals. From what I learned in the Google Analytics course, I will apply that knowledge to the evaluation, control, and continuous improvement section, as our goals need to be continually tracked and efforts continuously monitored. Tracking metrics from the SMART goals created will give Fouronetwo clarity on how the marketing efforts are performing for the business.

Thanks for reading.
